The Ocala Family Physicians' Medical Exercise Center provides medically-supervised programs for the treatment of pain or dysfunction in the back, neck, or knee. It is Ocala's first fully MedX-equipped facility, featuring both computerized testing/rehabilitation equipment and technologically advanced exercise machines for isolated strengthening of major muscle groups throughout the body. MedX treatments can be designed to reduce pain and symptoms associated with:
The center's physician-directed rehabilitation and fitness programs address a variety of musculoskeletal ailments. Patients are recommended for the program by their family physician or specialist. Pre-entry spinal and neck exams are conducted by Glen Morgan, M.D. and Donald Liebelt, M.D., board-certified family physicians. American College of Sports Medicine. Drs. Morgan and Liebelt have extensive additional training in sports medicine and exercise science. Both physicians are members of the American College of Sports Medicine and have several years of experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries.
The physicians will assess each patient's condition and write a tailored prescription for initial therapy based upon appropriate indications for a MedX-based program. An exercise physiologist certified in MedX rehabilitation directs both the testing and exercise sessions. Detailed reports are available to the referring physician upon request during the program and an outcome report is automatically sent at the conclusion of therapy.
Ocala Origin
Pioneered on Ocala's Jumbolair Ranch in the late 1980's by Arthur Jones, the inventor of world-renowned Nautilus equipment, MedX medical machines feature elaborate mechanisms that restrain uninvolved body parts (or muscle groups) so that only the targeted muscles are either tested or exercised. This isolation both eliminates the risk of harmful impact forces and pinpoints deficient areas that can then be worked on during exercise sessions, typically conducted once or twice per week.
Research-Proven Results
MedX has accumulated an impressive list of research findings, much of it published in medical and exercise physiology journals.  Its computerized testing machines have been used in therapy centers around the world for more than a dozen years.
Clinician training and educational support is provided independently by University of Florida's Center for Exercise Science, Colleges of Medicine and Health and Human Performance.
